2011 BNP Parbias Masters Results: Americans Andy Roddick, John Isner Advance

Americans Andy Roddick and John Isner both advanced after two separately difficult matches at the 2011 BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.

Roddick, the tournament’s No. 13 seed, defeated Frenchmen Julien Benneteau, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the round of 16. Roddick hit nine aces and made only 12 unforced errors. Benneteau hit seven aces but committed 25 unforced errors.

Although Roddick cannot qualify for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, he can compete to still finish the year in the top 10, a position he hasn’t made since the 2001 season.

Isner also won his match to advance to the round of 32 by beating Stanislas Wawrinka 6-7 (3), 7-5, 7-6 (5). Isner's 20 aces, including one to end the match, helped him edge out Wawrinka, but it isn't the first time Isner won a close match against the Switzerland-native. The 26-year-old American won a clay match 7-5, 7-5 in 2010 Serbia Open against Wawrinka.
