Novak Djokovic, the two-seed at Roland Garros, is on to the third round of the French Open 2011 with a dominating 89-minute, straight-set victory over Victor Hanescu. Djokovic entered the French Open playing possibly the best tennis of his career, and that has carried over in his first two matches, both of which were easy wins for the Serb.

Novak’s third round match should offer his first real test of the fortnight, however, with Juan Martin Del Potro waiting following his straight-set win against Blaz Kavcic on Wednesday. Del Potro is only seeded 25th, but that is due in large part to injury issues over the past year that he has been working back from in 2011. He won the U.S. Open two years ago and is still an extremely dangerous player.
Other notable results from around Day 4 at the French Open 2011: Roland Garros fan favorite Gael Monfils advanced in four sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1; Roger Federer cruised to the third round, as did women’s No. 1 seed Caroline Wozniacki; last year’s champ Francesca Schiavone moved to round 3 with a 6-1, 6-1 win; unseeded American Bethanie Mattek-Sands continued her surprising run with a second round win.
