But after she dropped the first set in her third round match against No. 21 Flavia Pennetta, 2007 Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli, the ninth-seeded player in the Ladies’ Singles draw, ordered her parents to scram.

Austrian Tamira Paszek advanced to the second week of a grand slam for the first time since 2007, upsetting 2010 French Open champion (and 2011 runner-up) Francesca Schiavone in a marathon encounter on Court 12 that began on Friday but was postponed due to rain.
Schiavone broke Paszek several times as the third set went past regulation, giving herself several opportunities to serve for the match. But displaying an uncharacteristic lack of killer instinct, Schiavone allowed Paszek back into the match time and time again.

Q Bernard Tomic def. No. 5 Robin Soderling 6-1, 6-4, 7-5. Australian qualifier Bernard Tomic, 18, became the first teenager in the second week of the Gentlemen’s Singles at Wimbledon since 2006 with his shocking 6-1, 6-4, 7-5 upset of No. 5 Robin Soderling on Court 1 Saturday.
Soderling was struggling with stomach problems throughout the match, especially early. The Swede won only seven points in the first set, and was visited by the doctor several times in the match. With stomach problems also plaguing several other players during the tournament, Miguel Seabra of Eurosport is reporting that the root cause is bad pasta in the players’ restaurant.

No. 1 Rafael Nadal def. Gilles Muller 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 6-0. Rafael Nadal has not lost a match at Wimbledon since 2007, a streak that was hardly in jeopardy during his straight sets win over big-serving Luxembourgian Gilles Muller.
Muller made a name for himself by upsetting Andy Roddick in the first round of the 2005 US Open, so he’s certainly capable of pulling off a big win on a fast court.
