Match updates from Day 13 of the Championships, the men’s final of Wimbledon 2011, where World No. 2 Novak Djokovic is out to prove he deserves the World No. 1 ranking he’ll have on Monday.
Wimbledon Men’s Finals: Rafael Nadal Returns To Form, Takes Uncontested Third Set From Novak Djokovic
No. 2 Novak Djokovic (Serbia) leads No. 1 Rafael Nadal (Spain), 6-4 6-1 1-6. It would appear the fourth set will tell the real story of this match, as Rafa has apparently noticed he’s in the Wimbledon finals and adjusted his play accordingly (the announcers remind us how fond Nadal is of the second week at Wimbledon, saying the courts play like clay). An embarrassing miss on a tweener shot is Rafa’s only real boneheaded move, in the fourth game. Djokovic commits his first double fault of the match; Nadal pulls off a double break to take a 5-1 lead, and that’ll about do it for the Serb this set.
