U.S. Open 2011: Weather Conditions Force Postponement Of Tuesday’s Scheduled Matches
Despite a wet forecast, U.S. Open officials remained optimistic that the rain in Flushing would stop for long enough to allow some matches to be played. Unfortunately, the rain fell steadier than anticipated, and all six matches on Tuesday’s schedule have been moved to Wednesday. From usopen.org:
Worse yet, weather.com’s forecast for Wednesday indicates that more showers are moving through the area of the course of the day. The projected chance of precipitation hangs around 60 percent in the morning hours before leveling off at 30 percent in the afternoon.

On Tuesday, play at the U.S. Open was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Eastern. However, the weather has once again altered the schedule, as rainfall has forced officials to suspend play. From the official U.S. Open video feed:
The hourly forecast on weather.com does seem to indicate a window of an hour or two in which the rain is likely to let up, but rainfall is likely to resume during the late afternoon. The area’s radar map displays a large movement of showers that figures to hover over or near Flushing all day.
