U.S. Open: Weather Delay Halts Tuesday’s Action; Forecast Calls For Rain

On Tuesday, play at the U.S. Open was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Eastern. However, the weather has once again altered the schedule, as rainfall has forced officials to suspend play. From the official U.S. Open video feed:

The forecast as of 11 a.m. ET calls for showers to continue for the next few hours followed by a period of dryness when we hope to begin match play.

The hourly forecast on weather.com does seem to indicate a window of an hour or two in which the rain is likely to let up, but rainfall is likely to resume during the late afternoon. The area’s radar map displays a large movement of showers that figures to hover over or near Flushing all day.

The schedule calls for six matches, including Rafa Nadal vs. Gilles Muller and Andy Murray vs. Donald Young. Whether all six matches will be played today remains to be seen.
