Ryan Harrison has faced 16-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer once in his career. Now, as part of the U.S. Davis Cup, Harrison and his American team will play Switzerland next month. The Swiss team will likely be led by Roger Federer.

The 19-year-old was selected by U.S. Davis Cup captain Jim Courier to be a part of the four-man roster. The Americans will play without former U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick, who decided to not to play after he was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open due to injuries.

Harrison didn’t make it far either in this year’s Australian Open, losing in the first round to Andy Murray in four sets. However, the young American was picked ahead of Donald Young and Jack Sock for the Davis Cup team.

Harrison joins Mike Bryan, Mardy Fish and John Isner. Their match will be held from Feb. 10-12 in Friborg Switzerland. They will play on clay courts.

From CBS Sports:

“Honestly, it’s unlikely that the third singles player is likely to play,” Courier said. “But we need someone and Sam Querrey’s knee is not quite right. Ryan is healthy, hungry and he’s eager.”
