Open Sud de France 2012 Final Results: Tomas Berdych Downs Gael Monfils For Title
Berdych has slowly but surely moved his way up into the upper echelon of players in the world. He’s not in the Djokovic-Nadal-Federer-Murray tier, but he’s right in the mix with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Ferrer, as evidence by his ranking, currently No. 7 in the world. Monfils, who’s at No. 13 in the world rankings, is a quality opponent, and likely could have advanced farther in the Australian Open had his back not completely locked up. Add his talent level to the fact that this was essentially a home game for him, this is a great win for Berdych as he looks to move up in the tennis world.
