In the 27th meeting, it was Rafael Nadal’s match, but in the 28th meeting at the BNP Paribas Open, it was all Roger Federer.
After a quick rain delay, the two former World No. 1’s came back and it took Federer one point to win the match.
The match was also initially postponed due to the inclement weather.
The Swiss tennis player never gave up a lead in his 6-3, 6-4 victory that lasted one hour and 31 minutes. He hit six aces, 28 winners and had 25 unforced errors.
Federer is now into the finals at Indian Wells, where he will face American John Isner, who is in his first final round in the Southern California tournament.
The last time the two tennis players met was on Federer’s home clay in Switzerland. Isner upset Federer in four sets for a Davis Cup victory, and people called it Isner’s biggest win of his career.
