Night Lights At Wimby? Night Lights At Wimby!

Check the lightbulbs, Wimbledon. Make sure they’re all screwed in tight.

The Olympics is 125 days away and the tennis schedule is going to be hectic.

Five matches per day planned just for Centre Court beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Well, mathematically that means some of these matches are going to extend to when the sun starts to go down, which means night lights at Wimby.

If matches do approach sunset hours, the Centre Court lights will be turned on, which requires closing the roof. The change, made at the discretion of the referee, may take place during a match.

"There will not be a night session, but the matches may go into nighttime," said Juan Marget, executive vice president of the International Tennis Federation.

But get this: a town ordinance in Wimbledon won't permit play after 11 p.m. In the Beijing Olympics, a match lasted until 3:35 a.m. after rain interrupted play.

That means if a match goes until 11 p.m., it will be finished the next day. Marget said matches won't start after 9 p.m.

Still, we're talking about these matches playing in a town where rain comes more often than Azarenka's shrieks. We'll see how this works out in 125 days. Until then, check those lightbulbs and remember, righty tighty. Unless, in England, even screwing light bulbs in tight is done to the left.
