Sony Ericsson Open 2012 Day 11 Preview: The Wild Card American Against The World No. 5

Venus Williams was once No. 5 in the world.

Actually, she once sat atop the world rankings three separate times. She has 21 Grand Slam titles to her name -- and a wildcard tag in Key Biscayne.

To find the 30-year-old American star in the rankings, you’ll have to click to page 2 on the WTA’s list.

On Day 11 at the Sony Ericsson Open, the world No. 134 will face No. 5 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

Radwanska is going deep into tournaments, reaching the quarterfinals at the recent Indian Wells and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open (where she lost to Victoria Azarenka). Williams is playing in her first tournament since the 2011 U.S. Open.

World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka will play for her 27th straight victory when she takes on Marion Bartoli of France.

On the men’s side, No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic will face No. 4 Andy Murray, while No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga takes on No. 2 Rafael Nadal.

You can watch play live online by visiting the official Sony Ericsson Open media page, which also has Wednesday’s complete schedule.
