Novak Djokovic wins again. On Sunday, the top-ranked tennis player in the world defended his title at the Sony Ericsson Open, beating Andy Murray 6-1, 7-6 (5).
Sony Ericsson Open 2012: Novak Djokovic Beats Andy Murray For Second Straight Title
Murray is the only player on tour who has beaten Djokovic twice since he became the top-ranked player in the world, but he was never terribly close to upending the World No. 1 on Sunday. Djokovic never lost his serve and only faced one break point all match.
Murray forced a tiebreak in the second set, but Djokovic was able to hold on for the straight set win.
Djokovic won the event last season and in 2007. On Sunday, he improved to 90-8 since the start of the 2011 and he’s keeping the momentum heading into the clay season. Bring on the French Open, the only Grand Slam that Djokovic has never won.
