Davis Cup 2012 Quarterfinals, France Vs. USA: Bryan Brothers Pull US Ahead With Doubles Victory, 2-1

Mike and Bob Bryan chest bumped above the clay court as their USA teammates stood and cheered from the sideline.

The American brothers continued their streak of never losing a Davis Cup road match. The U.S. doubles team beat the French doubles team of Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra, 6-4 6-4, 7-6(4) in the second day of Davis Cup quarterfinals play. The Bryan brothers are now 17-2 in Davis Cup play and are on a 5-0 win streak.

In the match, the French team had a lot of missed opportunities and hit a lot to Mike Bryan while he was at the net. The elder twin (by two minutes), Mike is considered one of the best volleyers in the world. The Bryan brothers also found a lot of angles and ways to the net to win the match in three straight sets.

The victory also means that America leads France, 2-1, after John Isner won his singles match against Giles Simon on Day 1. Now, the Americans are a point away from winning this quarterfinal tie and advancing to the semifinals for the first time since 2008.

On Sunday, Isner will face world No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in a reverse of the singles play from Friday. This match could determine the Davis Cup action between the two countries. American teenager Ryan Harrison will play Simon.

If the U.S. team were to win, it would face the winner of Spain - Austria at the semifinals play in September.
