The last time John and Patrick McEnroe played doubles together, Bill Clinton was elected the 42nd President of the United States of America and the Church of England voted in favor of women becoming priests.

After two decades apart, the McEnroes joined forces on a tennis court. The McEnroe brothers played doubles in the over-45 legends doubles competition at the French Open.

Yes, the McEnroe bros have both cracked 45. John is 53 and little bro Patrick turned 45 last July.

Roland Garros is one of two Slams the older McEnroe didn’t win (along with the Australian Open). Patrick and American Jim Grabb won the 1989 French Open men’s doubles title.

On Wednesday, the brothers showed they can still dominate on court. They beat Andres Gomez and Emilio Sanchez, 6-2, 6-2.

The last time John and Patrick played doubles together was in November 1992. They beat Patrick Galbraith and Danie Visser in the final of the Paris Masters.

In 20 years, a lot has changed, but not the McEnroe brothers.

From the AP:

Playing on Court 1 at Roland Garros, the McEnroes exchanged palm slaps after winning points. Every so often, John’s yells of “Yours!” could be heard over the din of the crowd.
