2012 BB&T Atlanta Open: Andy Roddick Wins Title

With the Olympics and US Open coming up, Andy Roddick is on a little bit of a roll: a victory over Gilles Muller in the Finals at the BB&T Atlanta Open is his second tournament win in three tries and 11th win in 12 matches.

Roddick was tested by the Luxembourg native early as the American struggled with a pain in his right shoulder, only winning one game in the opening set. That put Muller on the verge of winning his first ever professional tournament; the unseeded 29-year old hadn’t even been to a final in seven years. But after a medical timeout, Roddick bounced back, winning a tiebreaker in the second set 7-2 and dominating in the final set to pull out a 1-6, 7-6 (2) 6-2 victory.

It was Roddick’s 32nd career victory, which means he might be running out of mantle space.

After the match ended, Roddick celebrated by gently tossing his racquet into the stands. A few minutes later, he handed the trophy to a random fan who seemed surprised.

Congrats on the tournament victory, surprised random fan!
