No. 4 seed Andy Murray has taken the first set, 6-4, over No. 3 Roger Federer in the 2012 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Championship.
Wimbledon 2012: Andy Murray Takes First Set From Roger Federer In Final
It’s the first set Murray has ever won in a Grand Slam final, after losing his first nine sets.
After dropping the first two games to Federer due to superb volleying from the six-time Wimbledon champion, Murray rallied to tie the set at two.
Murray won the ninth game of the set to take a 5-4 advantage, then took the 10th and decisive set in dramatic fashion, with a 132 mph ace that was followed up by another ace that left Federer flat-footed as the crowed erupted in applause.
In the first set, Murray held both of his two break-point conversions, while Federer was 1-3 in break points and committed 16 unforced errors.
