2012 U.S. Open Scores: Andy Roddick Wallops Bernard Tomic In Three Sets

Andy Roddick’s final tour will continue for one more day after Roddick handled Australian Bernard Tomic in three sets on Friday, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-0.

The win comes a day after the 30-year-old Roddick held a news conference and surprisingly announced that the 2012 U.S. Open will be the last tournament of his career.

The 2003 U.S. Open champion cited injuries and poor showings in Grand Slam tournaments as the reason for an early retirement, but Roddick looked on point against Tomic. Roddick served up 13 aces against Tomic and completely overwhelmed him in the final set, where Tomic only won a total of five points. Roddick’s serve was its usual self, topping out at 139 m.p.h.

He will go on to play 59th-ranked Fabio Fognini of Italy. Fognini beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain in three sets, 6-4, 6-4 and 6-2.

For the complete scoreboard, head on over to the U.S. Open website. They have the latest scores for both men and women’s action, including doubles play.
