After four days of play at the Australian Open, there have yet to be any major upsets on the men’s side of the bracket. The third round is set and all of the top 10 seeds are still alive. Day 4 saw No. 2 Roger Federer and No. 3 Andy Murray both advance easily in straight sets.
2013 Australian Open bracket update: Federer and Murray advance
The third round of the men’s bracket is set at the Australian Open and there have yet to be any major surprises as all the top seeds are still alive.

Federer topped Russian Nikolay Davydenko and will face Australian Bernard Tomic in the third round. Federer defeated the 20-year-old Aussie in the fourth round of this tournament last year. Should Federer advance, he will take on the winner of the match between No. 13 Milos Raonic of Canada and No. 17 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany. Federer is on a path to likely face a Frenchman in the quarterfinals, either No. 7 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or No. 9 Richard Gasquet.
Murray defeated Portugal’s Joao Sousa and his third-round opponent will be Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania. Berankis pulled off a slight upset, defeating No. 25 Florian Mayer of Germany in straight sets. Should Murray advance to the fourth round, he will face the winner of an all-Frenchman battle between No. 14 Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils. If Murray reaches the quarterfinals, No. 6 Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina will likely be awaiting him.
American Rajeev Ram lost to No. 12 Marin Cilic of Croatia in straight sets on Wednesday, leaving Sam Querrey as the lone American man remaining in the tournament. Querrey takes on No. 15 Stanislas Wawrinka on Day 5.
