Davis Cup play begins on Friday, Feb. 1 as the top 16 nations compete against one another in the premiere international team event in men’s tennis. The United States open play against Brazil in Jacksonville, Fla. and hope to improve upon a semifinals appearance last year. The U.S. is seeded sixth for the third straight year and have not won a Davis Cup since 2007.

The United States begins play in the 2013 Davis Cup against Brazil as they hope to win the trophy for the first time since 2007.

Spain is the top seed for the second straight year and have dominated the tournament in recent history, winning three of the last five finals and finishing as the runner-up last year. The 2012 champions, the Czech Republic, are seeded second. Argentina and Serbia round out the top four seeds.
The United States are on the same side of the bracket as Spain, Serbia, and Croatia. Should they beat Brazil this weekend they will advance to face the winner of Serbia vs. Belgium. Novak Djokovic will be playing singles for Serbia in the first round.
America’s team features John Isner and Sam Querrey playing singles, with Mike and Bob Bryan as the doubles team. They will take on a Brazilian team with Thomaz Bellucci and Thiago Alves playing singles and Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares playing doubles. The U.S. holds a 3-1 all-time series lead over Brazil, but the two sides have not met since 1997.
Top-seeded Spain faces a tough draw, playing against Canada in Vancouver. Spain will be without top players Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, facing a Canadian team lead by world No. 15 Milos Raonic.
