BNP Paribas Open 2013 results: Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic advance with ease on Day 7

All the biggest names had no trouble advancing, as Day 7 had plenty of action at Indian Wells.

Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova each did what they were supposed to do and advanced in the Men’s and Women’s draw on Tuesday’s Day 7 at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

The ATP world No. 1 stayed true to form and came on strong late to defeat Grigor Dimitrov 7-6(4), 6-1 to advance past the third round. He used Dimitrov’s four double-faults to get back into contention in the first set after he fell behind, 5-2, but then tied things up 5-5 and went on to win the set. He then cruised in the second set to move forward to face top-ranked American Sam Querry.

Djokovic remained unbeaten in 2013 with the victory.

If the Serb's victory was easy, then Maria Sharapova's win on the women's side was a pushover. She won her match against Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino with ease, 7-5, 6-0. The women's No. 3 seed will next move on to face Sara Errani.
