2013 Roland Garros: French Open matches and TV schedule for Wednesday

Four matches are set for the Roland Garros courts.

USA TODAY Sports

Four matches are scheduled for Day 11 of the French Open, as Roland Garros hosts four quarterfinal matches on Wednesday.

The women take the courts first, with Jelena Jankovic and Maria Sharapova meeting on Court Philippe Chatrier at 8 a.m. ET. At the same time on Court Suzanne Lenglen, Maria Kirilenko faces Victoria Azarenka.

Men’s action picks up after the women’s matches finish. Rafael Nadal and Stanislas Wawrinka are set to meet at about 10 a.m. on Court Philippe Chatrier. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic and Tommy Haas will meet on Court Suzanne Lenglen at the same time.

SB Nation’s Bill Connelly previewed all the quarterfinal action, noting on the men’s side:

One has to like Djokovic’s chances against anybody of any age in a best-of-5 situation, but against Haas, the longer the match goes, the better it probably is for the World No. 1.

Connelly says on the women’s side that Kirilenko’s easy path thus far now gets a lot more difficult.

Victoria Azarenka has taken each of the last six sets in the series between the two, and after losing in the fourth round of the French Open last year, Azarenka has discovered her form on clay. She has reached the semifinals of five of the last seven slams and has won two (both in Australia); she is most likely going to be too much for Kirilenko, as she was when the two met in the Moscow finals three years ago.
