2016 Australian Open: Schedule, TV coverage and live stream for Tuesday

Rafael Nadal vs. Fernando Verdasco is one of the most intriguing opening round matchups.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Australian Open will continue on Tuesday with the second day of play, featuring the other half of the bracket and players like Simona Halep, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. The opening day saw top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams advance without much issue.

Roger Federer drew in the same half as Djokovic, but the bottom half will have Nadal, Murray and plenty of other big names in competition.

Nadal will be playing in one of the most interesting matches of the first round, as he is scheduled to take on compatriot Fernando Verdasco on Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday. Nadal and Verdasco have a history of long, intense matches and Verdasco has inflicted more than his share of wins over Nadal.

On the women’s side, No. 3 seed Garbine Muguruza will be taking on Anett Kontaveit, and No. 2 seed Simona Halep will take on Shuai Zhang in Margaret Court Arena.

Another interesting one to watch will be the match between Lleyton Hewitt and fellow Australian James Duckworth. Hewitt has long been one of the best players for Australian tennis, though Nick Kyrgios represents the best chance of an Australian man to win big this year. Hewitt could be nearing the end of his career, and with an opener against a compatriot, there’s plenty of interest.

Play for Tuesday will actually get underway on Monday evening in the United States. Play begins at 11 a.m. local time on Tuesday, which means 7 p.m. ET on Monday. Television coverage will begin on the Tennis Channel and will run through 9 a.m. on Tuesday, while ESPN2 will carry simultaneous coverage for a portion of that block, beginning at 9 p.m. and running through 7 a.m.

You can live stream the day's coverage on Watch ESPN and Tennis Channel Live. Below are the pertinent seeded matches for Tuesday, with a full schedule available here.
