2016 Australian Open: Schedule, TV coverage and live stream for Thursday

Andy Murray and Garbine Muguruza are the highest-seeded players on Day 4 of the Australian Open.

With the top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams still intact and heading into the third round, the second half of the bracket still has to finish out the second round. Rafael Nadal, Simona Halep and Venus Williams -- the fifth, second and eighth seeds of their respective brackets -- all lost in the opening round, so there will be a handful of seeded players absent when the fourth day of the 2016 Australian Open gets underway.

The tournament is not absent the men’s second seed though -- Andy Murray will take on unseeded Australian Sam Groth. It’s been a good tournament for Australians thus far, but Murray is a tough opponent. Then there’s unseeded Australian Lleyton Hewitt, who is set to take on No. 8 seed David Ferrer on Thursday. That’s definitely one to watch, though Ferrer is the heavy favorite.

On the women’s side, No. 3 seed Garbine Muguruza is now the top hope to beat Serena Williams with Halep losing in the first round. Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka Radwanska are both still in, as well. Muguruza will be taking on Kirsten Flipkens on Day 4.

Play for Thursday will get underway on Wednesday evening in the United States. While things get started in Melbourne at 11 a.m. local time, folks will be able to tune in to the Tennis Channel at 7 p.m. ET to get watching. That coverage will run through 9 p.m., at which point it will shift to ESPN2, where it will remain until 7 a.m.

You can live stream the day's coverage on WatchESPN and Tennis Channel Live. Below are the pertinent seeded matches for Thursday, with a full schedule available here.
