2016 Australian Open: Schedule, TV coverage and live stream for Saturday

Andy Murray and Garbine Muguruza are the highest seeds still in third round action at the 2016 Australian Open.

The third round of the 2016 Australian Open got underway on Friday in Melbourne, and we’re one day away from making it into the Round of 16. Both top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams made it into the fourth round themselves, while the next-highest seeds will be in action on Saturday.

Andy Murray, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will face his first seeded opponent in No. 32 Joao Sousa. The No. 2 seed on the women’s side, Simona Halep, has been eliminated. That leaves Garbine Muguruza, the third seed, as the highest seed in this half of the bracket. She will be up against Barbora Strycova in here matchup.

Men’s No. 4 seed Stan Wawrinka will face unseeded Lukas Rosol, while No. 8 David Ferrer and No. 10 John Isner will face their first seeded opponents in No. 31 Steve Johnson and No. 18 Feliciano Lopez, respectively. Other top seeds in action on the women’s side include No. 7 Angelique Kerber, who will be taking on Madison Brengle, and No. 9 Karolina Pliskova, who will face her first seeded opponent in No. 21 Ekaterina Makarova.

Play for Saturday will get underway on Friday evening in the United States. While things get started in Melbourne at 11 a.m. local time, folks will be able to tune in to the Tennis Channel at 7 p.m. ET to get watching. That coverage will run through 9 p.m., at which point it will shift to ESPN2, where it will remain until 7 a.m.
