Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams both made it to the fourth round at the 2016 Australian Open. Williams, the heavy favorite for the women, cruised to victory against Daria Kasatkina, 6-1, 6-1. She was never in danger in the match and looks as fresh as she ever has.
2016 Australian Open results and bracket: Roger Federer downs Grigor Dimitrov, Serena Williams cruises
Williams and Djokovic once again made short work of their opposition while Federer was pushed to a fourth set against Dimitrov in the third round of the Australian Open.

Djokovic, facing his first seeded opposition of the year in No. 28 Andreas Seppi, also made it through in straight sets, though he had to fight a little harder than Williams did. Djokovic was victorious in his match, 6-1, 7-5, 7-6(6). Things stayed on course for Djokovic to have an early meeting with No. 3 Roger Federer, as he found his way past his third round opponent on the day, as well.
Federer needed four sets to take down No .27 seed Grigor Dimitrov, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Federer vs. Dimitrov was considered one of the top potential early round matchups and it did not disappoint, but Federer was in the driver’s seat for much of the match. No. 7 seed Kei Nishikori also needed four sets to best his first seeded opponent in No. 26 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
There was a minor upset in the men’s bracket as No. 24 seed Roberto Bautista Agut made short work of No. 12 seed Marin Cilic, 6-4, 7-6(5), 7-5.
On the women’s side, No. 4 seed Agnieszka Radwanska continued her strong play with a dominant match against Monica Puig, 6-4, 6-0. Maria Sharapova, the No. 5 seed, was pushed to three sets against Lauren Davis, but came out on top, 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-0. The two upsets on the women’s side included unseeded Australian Daria Gavrilova taking down No. 28 Kristina Mladenovic and Anna-Lena Friedsam besting No. 13 seed Roberta Vinci.
