The third day of the 2016 French Open went off without a slew of rain delays or light delays and postponed matches, the first day of this year’s tournament to do so. We also got to see the top seeds -- Serena Williams for the women and Novak Djokovic for the men -- in action for the first time.

And while this year’s opening round has seen a few surprises, like Stan Wawrinka being pushed to five sets and Kei Nishikori and Andy Murray being similarly tested, neither Djokovic nor Williams struggled at all.

Djokovic handled Yen-Hsun Lu in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. Williams had no trouble with Magdalena Rybarikova, 6-2, 6-0. Murray finished his Monday matchup on Tuesday, besting Radek Stepanek in five sets, 3-6, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, 7-5. It was a tough out for Murray, the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

The biggest upset of the tournament thus far occurred bright and early on Tuesday, as women’s No. 3 seed Angelique Kerber fell to Kiki Bertens in three sets. Bertens won the match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Ana Ivanovic were among the top-seeded players who won their matches on Tuesday.
