The final day of the 2016 French Open is here, a day after Garbine Muguruza shocked the world with a straight-set victory over Serena Williams to capture her first ever Grand Slam title. Regardless of who wins the men’s match, we’ll have a French Open championship going to a second person who has never had the honor of raising one before, as Novak Djokovic will be taking on Andy Murray.
French Open 2016: Times, TV schedule, matches and live stream for Sunday at Roland Garros
Neither Djokovic nor Murray has won at the French Open. That will change for one of them on Sunday.

Despite being much more familiar with Grand Slams and winning them than Muguruza, neither has been able to claim victory at Roland Garros. Djokovic, the top seed, has been to the finals on the clay of the French Open a total of three times before Sunday. That includes an appearance last year, when he lost to Stan Wawrinka in the final match.
Murray, the No. 2 seed, is appearing in his first ever final at the French Open. To get there, he went through Wawrinka in the semifinals, taking him down in a dominant four-set victory. He didn’t have as easy a time as Djokovic did in his semifinal, as he took Dominic Thiem out in straight sets.
Djokovic and Murray are familiar foes, though the former owns an impressive 23-10 record in the head-to-head between the two. Djokovic has won four of their last five meetings, though perhaps crucial is the fact that Murray won their last meeting, at the Masters in Rome this year. He handled Djokovic in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-3.
The bigger recent victory went to Djokovic earlier this year at the Australian Open, when he took down Murray in the finals of that Grand Slam to claim his sixth title there. Murray has been in that final five times and has never won it, something of a bad streak. It’s his task on Sunday to ensure that Djokovic’s “bad” streak at Roland Garros continues as well.
Also on the day will be the women’s doubles final, featuring No. 5 seeds Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic trying to hold off No. 7 seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina. The men’s doubles final happened on Saturday; Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan, No. 5 seeds, fell to Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez, 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3.
Television coverage begins at 5:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN with the women’s doubles final. NBC’s flagship network will then pick up coverage at 9 a.m. for the men’s final. You can watch them both online via NBC Sports.
