When both Serena Williams and Venus Williams were eliminated from singles competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics, many thought the United States’ chance at singles gold went with them. But another woman has been playing some of the best tennis of her career and finds herself in the semifinals: Madison Keys.
Madison Keys vs. Angelique Kerber, 2016 Olympic tennis: Time, TV schedule and live stream for women’s semifinal
Keys vs. Kerber will be a semifinal matchup at the Rio Olympics on Friday and here’s how you can watch.

Television coverage of the match will be broadcast on Bravo. Their coverage begins bright and early starting at 11 a.m. ET. Bravo will carry tennis coverage throughout the day. The Keys match will be third on Centre Court, with the other semifinal featuring Petra Kvitova and Monica Puig set to open the day of play. NBC Sports will have plenty of live streams of the tennis action on Friday.
Keys, the seventh seed, was the first American woman to debut in the top 10 since Serena did it back in 1999, a full 17 years earlier. At 21 years old, she has her best tennis in front of her, and has already played in a Grand Slam semifinal, back in 2015. But she has a massive test in front of her in Angelique Kerber, the second seed and favorite to win singles gold.
Kerber has also really come into her own recently, seemingly reaching her peak later than most at 28 years old. She won the Australian Open earlier in 2016 and made it to the finals at Wimbledon, where she lost to Serena. Kerber is the second-ranked woman in the world, and many believe the German will get the singles gold.
Keys and Kerber have played each other five times, with Kerber coming out on the winning end four times. The most recent match was on the hard courts of the Miami Masters, where Kerber beat Keys in straight sets. Keys pushed her to three sets in Charleston in 2015, and took her lone win over Kerber on the grass courts of Eastbourne in 2014.
