Serena Williams cruised to victory in her opening round Australian Open matchup, keeping her in the running as she trails Angelique Kerber. Williams is trying to get her top ranking back, and her bid got stronger when Simona Halep was eliminated on the tournament’s first day.

On Tuesday, in the United States, Kerber will face Carina Witthoeft in her second-round match. The day’s matches will begin on Wednesday in Melbourne and play will be at a decent hour throughout the day. But in the United States, things will get started at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, not wrapping up until 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

The day’s matches will be broadcast by ESPN2 in the United States, with a live stream available online via WatchESPN.

Men’s second seed Novak Djokovic and ninth seed Rafael Nadal both advanced in their opening rounds as well, keeping top seed Andy Murray and the rest of those on the opposite schedule on notice. Murray will be in action against Andrey Rublev for his second round matchup on Wednesday.

Fourth seed Stan Wawrinka will face Steve Johnson, fifth seed Kei Nishikori has a tough out against Jeremy Chardy, seventh seed Marin Cilic will take on Daniel Evans and rounding out the top 10 is Tomas Berdych, who will take on Ryan Harrison. Finally, all the way down at the 17th seed, Roger Federer will take on Noah Rubin.
