Some of the high seeds of the Australian Open are out of the running, but nobody huge suffered an upset on Day 5 of the tournament. The matches, played on Thursday evening and Friday morning in the United States and throughout the day in Melbourne on Friday, included top seeds Angelique Kerber and Andy Murray, both of whom made it through without issue.

Kerber was taking on Kristyna Pliskova, and made short work of her, winning, 6-0, 6-4. Murray took on American Sam Querrey, and bested him in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. Querrey was the 31st seed in the tournament.

The highest seed to fall on the day, at the time of writing, was women’s No. 11 seed Elina Svitolina. She fell to No. 24 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who needed three sets but ultimately won, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Men’s fourth seed Stan Wawrinka was pushed to four sets in his match against No. 29 Viktor Troicki, but ultimately won, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(7). Another American, this one No. 23 seed Jack Sock, fell on the day to No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsongaerecore, 7-6(4), 7-5, 6-7(8), 6-3.

The biggest win of the day came when No. 17 seed Roger Federer cruised to victory against Tomas Berdych, the 10th seed. Federer is seeded so low after struggling with injuries throughout the 2016 campaign.

But Berdych was no match for Federer, who advances to the Round of 16 along with Murray, Wawrinka, and Tsonga. Kei Nishikori, the fifth seed, was another player through to the fourth round after making a straight-set victory.
