The women’s final between Serena Williams and Venus Williams will highlight the penultimate day of the 2017 Australian Open. The year’s first major features a familiar sight: the Williams sisters facing each other on the grandest stage. It doesn’t happen as much in recent years as it has in others, but it’s still incredibly exciting.
Australian Open 2017: Schedule, TV coverage, and live stream for Saturday
The Williams sisters will play each other in the Australian Open final while Bob and Mike Bryan try to win yet another doubles title on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, the men’s doubles final will also take place. Perennial champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan are third seeds and they will play fourth seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers. That match will take place after the women’s singles final, which is set to get underway at 3 a.m. ET in the United States.
Television coverage of the women’s final will be on ESPN, with a live stream live online at WatchESPN. The doubles final will be aired on the Tennis Channel at 5:30 a.m., also with live streams available online.
The big story is the women’s final, however. The Williams sisters are two of the most dominant players in the history of the sport and their sibling rivalry is fairly significant. Serena holds the edge overall at 16-11, but on hard courts, like the one in Melbourne, her edge is down to 9-8.
Serena won the last meeting, at the quarterfinals of the US Open in 2015. Serena has been the more dominant player historically and is doing much better this late into their careers. She is the second seed in the tournament while Venus is the 13th seed.
Still, even when she is struggling, Venus plays Serena harder than she plays anybody else. The match could very well end with Serena dominating her sibling, but Venus scoring the upset wouldn’t be the strangest thing to see.
