Andy Murray advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2017 French Open with a straight-set win over Juan Martin del Potro on Saturday.

Murray, the top seed, fought to a tiebreak win in the first set and narrowly took the second before del Potro lost all his steam and dropped the third set without winning a game. In the end, Murray advanced with a score of 7-6(8), 7-5, 6-0.

It was a strong performance from Murray, who has played some close games with del Potro in recent history. It was his tallest test on the clay thus far, and Murray passed it without serious issue. He hasn’t been the favorite at Roland Garros, but the win should do wonders for his confidence.

Agnieszka Radwanska, the women’s ninth seed, was eliminated in her third-round matchup on Saturday. The unseeded Alize Cornet took her down in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.

Also in women’s action, Simona Halep faced her first seeded opponent of the tournament in Daria Kasatkina, the 26th seed. Halep, the third seed, is a popular pick for winning her first Grand Slam with this tournament, and she breezed through Kasatkina, 6-0, 7-5.

Caroline Wozniacki, the No. 11 seed, entered Saturday with an in-progress match against Catherine Bellis. She led by a set but trailed in the second set. Bellis ended up taking that set, prompting a third, which Wozniacki won, advancing her to the Round of 16.
