The 2017 US Open got underway on Monday, and there were few surprises in the early slate of matches. Venus Williams, the ninth seed for the women and one of the favorites, was pushed to three sets in her opener against Viktoria Kuzmova, an unseeded player.

But Williams did win the match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The women’s bracket is an interesting one with no Serena Williams still and with Venus’ appearance in two Grand Slam finals already this year.

That bracket also saw a shakeup in the form of seventh seed Johanna Konta being bounced in three sets. Aleksandra Krunic bested Konta, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, and it was the highest profile upset at the time of writing.

On the men’s side, Marin Cilic, the fifth seed, needed four sets but ultimately bested his opener, Tennys Sandgren, 64, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. American John Isner, the 10th seed, also needed four sets but made it past Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

David Ferrer, the No. 21 seed for the men and former top 10-ranked player in the world, lost to Mikhail Kukushkin on Monday, falling in four sets. Another seeded player, Karen Khachanov, the 25th seed, lost to Yen-Hsun Lu on the day.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Pablo Carreno Busta, Garbine Muguruza and Petra Kvitova were higher seeds on both sides that made it through unscathed after their openers.

Below, you can find results for men’s and women’s singles matches that involve at least one seeded player. Not every match is complete at the time of writing, and you can find full results for the men’s bracket here and women’s bracket here.
