Venus Williams made short work of her third-round opponent and is into the Round of 16 at the U.S. Open. Williams bested Maria Sakkari in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, and is looking very good going into the next round.

Marin Cilic, the fifth seed for the men, found himself eliminated by No. 29 Diego Schwartzman on Friday. Cilic is one of the biggest names in the tournament given that all of Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Milos Raonic, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori missed the tournament due to injuries.

Now he’s out, falling to Schwartzman, who won in four sets, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-4. He joins Grigor Dimitrov, the men’s seventh seed, who lost on Thursday. The men’s bracket is fairly thin at this point, with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer the obvious favorites. Federer, though, has been pushed to five sets twice in just two matches thus far.

Garbine Muguruza, the third seed for the women, is quietly performing extremely well, and on Friday defeated her first seeded competition of the tournament, No. 31 Magdalena Rybarikova, 6-1, 6-1.

American John Isner, the 10th seed, will face No. 23 Mischa Zverev on Friday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium. After that, play on the featured court will conclude with the match between Maria Sharapova and American Sofia Kenin. Updated results from those matches will be in the official brackets linked below.
