Rafael Nadal made it through to the quarterfinals of the US Open with a dominant victory over Alexandr Dolgopolov on Monday. Nadal, the top seed for the men, bested Dolgopolov in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1.

Nadal and Karolina Pliskova, the top seeds for both brackets, made it through to the quarterfinals on Monday.


He’ll face the winner of the Round of 16 match between David Goffin, the ninth seed, and Andrey Rublev.
Karolina Pliskova, the top seed for the women, made short work of unseeded American Jennifer Brady on Monday. Pliskova took her down in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. She converted on six of nine break point attempts, won 92 percent of her first serves and won 90 percent of her net points.
She hit 23 winners and had nine unforced errors, while Brady only managed six winners and had 11 unforced errors. Pliskova advances to the quarterfinals, where she awaits the winner of the Round of 16 match between American CoCo Vandeweghe, the No. 20 seed, and Lucie Safarova.
On Monday evening, Roger Federer, the third seed for the men, will take on Philipp Kohlschreiber, the 33rd seed. Federer won both the Australian Open and Wimbledon this season, and could face Nadal in the semifinals if they both make it that far.
Play on the featured court will then wrap up with a match between women’s fourth seed Elina Svitolina and 15th seed Madison Keys.
