The men’s semifinals are now set for the 2017 US Open. Rafael Nadal, the top seed, will be taking on Juan Martin del Potro in one, while the other will see No. 12 Pablo Carreno Busta up against No. 28 Kevin Anderson.

Del Potro managed to score a narrow four-set victory over Roger Federer in a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday evening, punching his ticket into the semifinals.

Nadal looked as good as he has all tournament on Wednesday, beating Andrey Rublev in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. He was in control the entire time, and will likely be the favorite going into the semifinals.

Federer and del Potro fought a very close match on Wednesday evening. Federer, the third seed, dropped the first set, but dominated in the second. The third set, though, was back to being evenly matched, and went to a long tiebreak that ultimately ended in favor of del Potro, 10-8.

The fourth set was also close, but del Potro secured it before it went to a tiebreak. He bested Federer, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(8), 6-4.

Anderson faced American Sam Querrey, the 17th seed, in his quarterfinal matchup. It was hard-fought, but Anderson took it in four sets, 7-6(5), 6-7(9), 6-3, 7-6(7). Busta needed just three sets to best Diego Schwartzman, the 29th seed, in his quarterfinal. Busta won that match, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.

The women’s semifinals are already set, featuring four American women for the first time in a Major since 1985. Venus Williams will be facing Sloane Stephens, while CoCo Vandeweghe will face Madison Keys.
