Rafael Nadal will play his first third-round matchup on Thursday.

Play begins at 7 p.m. ET on the Tennis Channel through 9 p.m., at which point ESPN 2 will pick up and carry coverage through to the early morning on Friday. Play in Melbourne will take place completely on Friday due to the time difference. Live streaming of all courts can be had via WatchESPN.
Nadal was the runner-up in last year’s tournament, falling to Roger Federer in the finals. Many believe the two will meet again this year. Nadal has one Australian Open to his name, the only Slam he hasn’t won more than one of.
On Friday, Nadal will be taking on his first seeded opponent of the tournament, No. 28 Damir Dzumhur. Grigor Dimitrov, the men’s third seed, will also have a seeded opponent in No. 30 Andrey Rublev on Thursday. The sixth-seeded Marin Cilic will face American Ryan Harrison, and is the only other top-10-seeded man in action on the day.
On the women’s side, the second-seeded Carolina Wozniacki will take on her first seeded opponent in No. 30 Kiki Bertens. Fourth seed Elina Svitolina will face Marta Kostyuk, who is unseeded. Jelena Ostapenko is the only other top-10-seeded woman in action on the day. Ostapenko, the seventh seed, will face No. 32 Anett Kontaveit on Thursday.
