The third round of the Australian Open got underway on Thursday evening, and men’s top seed Rafael Nadal cruised. Nadal took on his first seeded opponent of this year’s tournament, downing No. 28 Damir Dzumhur in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1

Nadal is one of the favorites to win it this year, though he fell in the finals in 2017, losing to Roger Federer, who will play on Friday.

Grigor Dimitrov, the men’s third seed, needed four sets to get through his first seeded opponent, No. 30 Andrey Rublev, on Thursday, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. The other men’s top-10 seed was Pablo Carreno Busta, who comes in at No. 10 and who needed four sets to beat No 23 Gilles Muller, 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.

On the women’s side, No. 4 Elina Svitolina made short work of the young Mara Kostyuk, 6-2, 6-2. Women’s No. 19 seed Magdalena Rybarikova made it through Kateryna Bondarenko in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.

Below are the full results from Thursday at the time of writing. Thursday evening’s action in the U.S. equals mid-morning Friday in Melbourne.
