Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys will meet in the semifinals of the French Open, making it the second year in a row they have met in the final rounds of the Grand Slam.

In 2017 Stephens beat Keys in the final to take home the crown in a 6-3, 6-0 win. Stephens has had a wonderful tournament at Roland Garros in 2018 with wins over several seeded opponents, including Daria Kasatkina in the quarter finals on Tuesday. Similarly Keys has been in excellent form, beating Naomi Osaka.

The match will determine who will meet one of four women still playing, including No. 1 seed Simona Halep and Maria Sharapova, whose path to the semifinals was made easier when Serena Williams was forced to withdraw from the tournament on Monday due to a pectoral injury.

American women have had great success at the French Open in recent years. In 2017 the draw was dominated by the all-American quartet of CoCo Vandeweghe, Venus Williams, Madison Keys, and Sloane Stephens.

Sloane and Keys will likely play on Thursday and Friday, but the schedule has not been determined.
