Simona Halep defeats Sloane Stephens to win first Grand Slam

Halep came back from a first set loss to take the title!

After losing the first set to Sloane Stephens, Simona Halep came back to win the next two sets 6-4 and 6-1 to win her first French Open and Grand Slam.

The Top-seeded Halep reached the finals by defeating 2016 French Open champion Garbine Muguruza in straight sets to earn her way to her second straight final in Paris. Halep was the French Open runner-up both in 2014 and 2017.

Halep celebrated the match by climbing up into the stands to celebrate with her team.

This was Stephens first French Open since recovering from an injury, 10th-seeded Stephens is has been playing well all tournament. She previously won the 2017 US Open and there’s no doubt that she’ll be in many finals matches to come.

What a tournament.
