Roger Federer will never, ever stop making impossible shots like this one

Kyrgios’ reaction is also quite good.

Roger Federer is having a fantastic showing thus far at the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the season. On Saturday, Federer faced Nick Kyrgios, and during the match he made a shot that may as well be the best one I’ve ever seen.

That’s not hyperbole, look at this. LOOK AT THIS.

Imagine being Kyrgios, on the other side of the court. You’re facing Federer, a 37-year-old who is skipping major tournaments to keep himself fresh and you’re already losing because ... well, it’s Federer. Then you make a really great shot yourself to secure a hard-fought point.

Except you don’t. Federer Federerers. You have been Federerer’d. Just peep the reaction:

Same. Just .... same.

“It really only happens on a center court of this size,” Federer told ESPN’s Darren Cahill, via Tennis.com. “The funny thing about this shot is, I didn’t think about it until I hit it. I actually didn’t think I was going to get it.

“Definitely a bit of luck, good feet,” he added, “but I guess I deserve it because I went for it.”

Federer, the second seed, bested Kyrgios, the 30th seed, 6-4, 6-1, 7-5. It wasn’t a particularly close match, and Federer is certainly a tough draw for the third round, especially on the hard courts of New York.

Federer will face John Millman in the fourth round on Monday.
