The women’s semifinals at the 2025 French Open are set, as four players remain following a pair of quarterfinal matchups on Wednesday. The top two seeds in Aryna Sabalenka and American Coco Gauff remain in action, with the fifth-seeded Iga Świątek and the unseeded Lois Boisson rounding out the final four.

In an all-American quarterfinal, Gauff bested Madison Keys, the seventh seed, in three sets, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1. Gauff’s best result at the French Open is a finals loss to Świątek, who also beat her in the semifinals last season. Gauff has one Grand Slam win and would like to make it another, but she’ll have to face Boisson, who is coming off a big upset of her own.
Boisson downed the third-seeded Jessica Pegula on her way to the quarterfinals, where she beat the sixth-seeded Mirra Andreeva in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, to make it into the semifinals. She came into the tournament ranked 361 in the world and expected to have the crowd in her court for the semifinal, as she is French.
Świątek may have bested Gauff plenty in recent history, but she’ll have to contend with Sabalenka in her semifinal matchup. Fortunately, she boasts an 8-4 head-to-head record against the top seed, including a 5-1 mark on clay, like that at Roland Garros. Świątek bested the 13th-seeded Elina Svitolina in straight sets in her quarterfinal match, 6-1, 7-5. Świątek has won the French Open four times, including the last three tournaments, so despite being the lower seed, she’ll likely be favored as it’s her
Sabalenka, 27, has never won the French Open, with the semifinals being her best showing to date. She has taken multiple Australian Open titles and also won at the US Open last year, so she has experience winning the big one. She dismantled Qinwen Zheng in her quarterfinal matchup, winning in straight sets, 7-6(3), 6-3.
