Iman Shumpert showed few ill effects of the ACL injury that ended his 2012 campaign during the New York Knicks' playoff run last season. As Shumpert slowly grew more comfortable coming back from the injury, there were plenty of signs his athleticism was returning. Now Shumpert is set to be a key piece for the Knicks next season, with a large part of New York's hopes in the Eastern Conference resting on the guard's development as he enters his third year.

Coach Nick of SB Nation and BBall Breakdown caught up with Shumpert in the gym recently to learn about his go-to crossover. For Shumpert, it’s a quick through-the-legs crossover that can shake defenders due to its quick change of direction. Keeping the ball close to his body is a key for Shumpert, because NBA defenders are quick enough to swipe at any ball left unprotected.
As for what to do after beating his man with his first step? Shumpert said whether he’s jumping off one foot for a quick attack to the rim or jumping off both feet to add power, it’s all about taking advantage of whatever the defense gives him.
