Jonquel Jones is questionable to play in Thursday’s game between the New York Liberty and Golden State Valkyries, the Liberty announced Thursday morning. The team did not share more information about her status, beyond listing her as questionable with a right hamstring injury.

In addition to Jones, backup big Nyara Sabally is also questionable with a right knee injury. Through four games, Jones has been the Liberty’s second-leading scorer and leading rebounder, averaging 16.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. She’s shooting 51.1% from the field and 47.1% from three.

The Valkyries, meanwhile, are 2-2 to begin the season, and have been led by former Liberty forward Kayla Thornton, who is averaging a team-best 12.8 points per game in Golden State.

Thursday’s game marks the second consecutive match-up between the Liberty and Valkyries; the two teams last faced off on Tuesday, with the Liberty winning 95-67. Jones, the 2024 Finals MVP, had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in that one.

The Liberty are currently one of two undefeated teams in the WNBA, having begun their season with a 4-0 record. The WNBA’s other undefeated team is the Minnesota Lynx, who began the season 5-0.
