SummerSlam 2015 results: Sheamus pins Randy Orton after a double Brogue Kick

WWE’s Mr. Money in the Bank is looking strong.

Sheamus isn’t doing the regular slumping that we’re used to seeing from Money in the Bank winners. Instead, he’s looking like a strong championship contender after pinning Randy Orton in the opening match at SummerSlam.

Both men were involved in the Money in the Bank ladder match, with Sheamus winning the contract for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at any time. They’ve been running into each other ever since, costing each other the title.

Two weeks ago, Orton was about to pin Seth Rollins to become champion before Sheamus pulled the referee out of the ring. He tried to cash in his Money in the Bank contract after taking out Orton, but didn’t do enough damage. Orton recovered in time to beat up Sheamus before the referee rang the bell to start the Irishman’s match against Rollins, preventing the cash-in.

Before the match started, Sheamus hopped up on the announcers’ table and berated the audience for telling him that he looked stupid. If you haven’t seen Sheamus lately, he braids his beard.

Orton thought he had the match won with an early RKO, but Sheamus had the presence of mind to roll out of the ring and extend it, which eventually paid off for him. The match ended when Sheamus hit Orton with a Brogue Kick lite in the corner, then connected fully with a second one before scoring the clean pin.

With that, expect Sheamus to get into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture pretty quickly -- perhaps as soon as Sunday night.
