The Undertaker got his win back against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, but it certainly wasn’t straightforward. A mistake by the timekeeper distracted the referee, allowing Undertaker to hit a low blow, then make Lesnar pass out in Hell’s Gate.
SummerSlam 2015 results: Undertaker makes Brock Lesnar pass out in controversial finish
This certainly sets up a fantastic potential rubber match.

When Lesnar failed to get a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2014, he turned his attention to the next-best thing -- ending the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania 30. He did so in one of the most shocking moments in wrestling history, and his manager Paul Heyman proceeded to taunt the Undertaker for the next 18 months.
Finally, between the endless mocking and Lesnar injuring his brother Kane, Undertaker couldn’t take it anymore. He cost Lesnar another shot at the title by interfering in his match at Battleground, nailing Lesnar with a low blow to cause a disqualification and help Seth Rollins retain the championship. The next night on RAW, this match was made and they had one of the biggest brawls ever on RAW.
Before the referee could even ring the bell for this contest, Lesnar attacked Undertaker and started blowing him up with punches. But Taker recovered, eventually throwing Lesnar out of the ring and allowing the ref to get the match started.
Recapping the big event
Taker got most of the early offense in, but Lesnar turned the tables after five minutes, hitting Undertaker with a pair of German suplexes to take control. With Taker struggling, Lesnar took the match to the outside and delivered a nasty F5 to Undertaker that put him through the announce table ... eventually. It didn’t give easily and looked like it hurt. But the ref started his 10 count late, letting Undertaker get back into the ring in time.
“I’ll kill you, you son of a bitch,” Lesnar yelled out, and mimicking his line from their brawl, Undertaker popped up and said “You’re going to have to.” Just when Lesnar looked ready to beat Taker into a bloody pulp, the world’s favorite Zombie mortician delivered a chokeslam, followed by a tombstone piledriver. It didn’t put Brock away, and the two of them popped up laughing at each other.
Finisher trading time. Taker hits a Last Ride, Lesnar kicks out. Lesnar hit an F5 in response, the Deadman kicked out. Lesnar connected with another F5, Undertaker got up yet again.
Sensing that their power moves weren’t going to do much, both men decided to turn the match into a submission battle. Undertaker locked in Hell’s Gate and had Lesnar looking like he was going to tap out, but Lesnar reversed into a Kimura lock. Things got weird after t his.
Even though the referee didn’t call for the bell, it rang and everyone got really confused. While the referee was distracted, berating the timekeeper for messing up, Undertaker hit Lesnar with another low blow. That let him sink in Hell’s Gate again, and this time, it would end the match.
As he was about to pass out, rather than give Undertaker the satisfaction of getting a submission, Lesnar stuck his middle finger in the Deadman’s face. Then he passed out, and this time, the referee called for the bell to give Undertaker the win.
Even though the referee never called for the bell the first time it rang, replays showed that Undertaker had tapped out.
