Survivor Series 2017 results: Team Raw wins the night after Triple H shenanigans

Team Raw prevailed on the night, but not without some collateral damage.

The Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown battle was all knotted up heading into the main event of Survivor Series, with a 3-3 deadlock before the men’s elimination match. In the end, Triple H’s shenanigans got the victory for Raw, helping the win the night overall.

Here’s a quick rundown of the wrestlers involved.

Team Raw: Kurt Angle, Triple H, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman
Team SmackDown: Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, John Cena, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura

The main story going into this match was, as always, a conflict between the McMahons. Stephanie made her return to TV and got up in the business of Raw GM Kurt Angle, while Shane was gearing up to lead his SmackDown team. Jason Jordan, Angle’s storyline son, was originally in the match, but Triple H also returned and inserted himself, kicking out Jordan.

On the SmackDown side, John Cena was added a couple of weeks in advance despite him not appearing on TV at all in the buildup. So it goes.

Before the match even started, Shane tried to attack Strowman... for some reason. Joe quickly got in and started working with Orton. Randy went for the RKO, which got blocked, and he escaped the Coquina Clutch before Balor tagged in. Nakamura came in for the blue team and we got some wonderful Balor vs. Nakamura action.

After a few minutes, H tagged in for Balor and wrestled Nakamura for a bit. Hunter hit a facebuster on Nakamura, who tagged in Roode in a glorious bit of symmetry. Both men hit their moves and dueling taunts before Angle came in, hitting a series of German suplexes on Roode. Nakamura came back in and the teams started switching in and out with frequent tags.

Nakamura hit the Kinshasa on Triple H, but Braun was the legal man instead. Strowman nailed a running powerslam and put him down. Shinsuke Nakamura eliminated from SmackDown team.

Braun continued cleaning house, beating down Roode and pinning him with another powerslam. Bobby Roode eliminated from SmackDown team.

Predictably, Trips and Angle got in each other’s faces before getting knocked out of the ring. Cena finally made his way into the match, even working together with his longtime rival, Orton, to work on Braun. Strowman, as always, recovered and beat the piss out of everyone, but the entire SmackDown team joined together and slammed Strowman through the announce table (with an assist from Nakamura, who was still ringside despite being eliminated).

Shane, sensing an opportunity, went up top, but Joe grabbed him and suplexed him back into the ring. Shane escaped the Clutch and tagged in Cena, who ran wild on Joe. Samoa Joe came back and got Cena in the corner, dropping him with a uranage. Balor went for the Coup de Grace, but Joe didn’t tag him in, and Cena pinned Joe after a series of AAs. Samoa Joe eliminated from Raw team.

Angle stepped into the ring to face Cena, in a nifty callback to Cena’s first WWE appearance more than a decade ago. He went for Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Angle grabbed him in an Ankle Lock. He hit the Angle Slam, Balor nailed the Coup de Grace, and a second Angle Slam got Cena out of the match. John Cena eliminated from SmackDown team.

Balor came in and went to work on Orton before dropkicking Shane into the barricade on the outside. He got back in the ring and hit a Slingblade, but missed the Coup de Grace and walked into an RKO outta nowhere. Finn Balor eliminated from Raw team.

Now there are two men left on Team SmackDown and three left on Team Raw. Orton got double-teamed by Hunter and Angle with Shane near-dead on the outside. Shane tried coming in for a tag before Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ran in, beating up Shane at ringside. Shane came back with chair attacks and Orton RKO’d Owens in the ring, sending both men packing.

Meanwhile, Braun recovered from the table spot and powerslammed Orton to his doom. Randy Orton eliminated from SmackDown team. Shane’s the only one left on his team, facing Triple H, Angle, and Braun.

With the odds severely stacked against him, Shane wandered around ringside thinking of a plan. He finally got in the ring with Braun on the other side, but Triple H tagged in to face his brother-in-law. Before that can started, Angle tagged himself in and got in Hunter’s face again. Shane rolled him up for two and kept going on the offense with multiple nearfalls, but Angle dropped him with an Angle Slam and slapped on the Angle Lock.

However, with Shane close to tapping, Triple H hit the ring and Pedigreed Angle, dragging Shane’s body over the Raw GM for the pin. Kurt Angle eliminated from Raw team. Trips then stood by Shane’s side and helped him up, only to Pedigree Shane and get the pin himself and secure victory for his team. Shane McMahon eliminated from SmackDown team.

After the match, Braun got in Trips’ face and powerslammed him multiple times to end the show.
