WrestleMania 2018: Braun Strowman’s mystery partner is ... a small child?

Sort of, but not really.

We knew Braun Strowman would be fighting The Bar at WrestleMania 34, but what we didn’t know was who his tag team partner would be when he battled Sheamus and Cesaro in New Orleans. Strowman entered the match by shoving a Mardi Gras parade float off the stage, destroying it, and then things got weird.

Strowman worked the crowd a little bit, ratcheting up the tension and curiosity of who he could be choosing and then announced that he would be fighting with ... someone from the audience??? Sure, okay Braun.

The announcement itself was curious enough, but the reveal of who it would be really took the weirdness up a level. Strowman strolled the perimeter of the ring and then went into the crowd, searching for the correct partner. Eventually he pulled a small child named Nicholas out of the crowd which it’s safe to say nobody saw coming when the first hint of a mystery partner was in the air.

The sequence of events didn’t exactly translate in the way the writers probably hoped it would, with everyone at home and in the stadium a little confused as to how they were supposed to be reacting or how this was going to work.

Even worse, Nicholas stood by the side of the ring shaking from fear or nerves while he watched Strowman fight before he was able to muster up the energy to briefly tag in to the match. All in all, it was definitely a surprise that this was the partner reveal but it’s questionable whether it completely worked.
