‘Miz and Mrs.’ Hitz and Misses: Avril Lavigne and James Roday are here! Avril Lavigne and James Roday are here?

Plus Miz in Peak Dad Form before his baby is even born.

We’re back for another week of Miz and Mrs., the show that gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the marriage and impending parenthood of Miz and Maryse. In the premiere the show laid the ground of what the half-hour look at their lives might entail each week and introduced us to side “characters” like Maryse’s mom Marjo and WWE talent out of the ring, just hanging out with the main couple.

For the second episode we got to see Miz already at Peak Dad behavior as he haggles the price in every transaction he possibly can, Maryse try to throw one last party at “Chateau Marmiz,” and ... AVRIL LAVIGNE?! Let’s dig in to this week’s hitsz and misses.

Hit: Marjo telling Miz he has a flat butt

I don’t foresee an episode this season that will not involve Maryse’s mom Marjo doing something amazing and/or perfect. If Marjo is ever under “Miss” I might need to stop doing things because I truly can’t imagine it. Her looking at the final product of last week’s “implied” naked photo shoot and laughing at Miz’s butt was true joy on television.

She openly asked if she could see his penis in the photos or not and then mocked how his butt looked. Mother-in-Law majesty right there. Marjo forever.

Hit: Miz’s cake sticker shock

There are few things more satisfying than the look on their faces when men find out how expensive [insert item a woman knows exactly how much costs here] for the first time. It’s a special kind of shock that women everywhere know intimately. That was Miz and cakes this week. When Maryse asked for a $1,000 cake for her baby shower, Miz’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.

This moment also gave us the additional benefit of Miz talking about what kind of cakes he had as a kid — namely Transformers and WWE-themed sheet cakes. The cutest, while also being very on brand to his current employer.

Miss: Miz’s haggling

Miz finding out how expensive fancy cakes are was funny, Miz then trying to haggle a legitimate business out of their prices was not. The general rules of haggling are that you can try to go for a deal at a business (two cakes for a small percentage off) or you can haggle with street vendors who are willing and usually planning on doing it.

So Miz trying to get cheaper delivery at a real bakery was cringeworthy. He makes over a million dollars a year. Pay for your dang cake, Miz! Some Peak Dad’ing happening before his firstborn even arrived. It apparently runs in the family because his dad George came to visit and he not only asked for a ride from the airport instead of taking a cab, but then Miz described their relationship as “I was six years old until I was 15 years old just so he could get a discount at Hometown Buffet.” Apple, tree, etc.

He got his comeuppance later when he and his dad then tried to deliver the cake to the party themselves and ruined it and then had to pay double for a fancier cake and delivery last minute. So it all worked out, karma wise.

Hit: The actual cake ruining

Here, a cake murder in three parts.

Hit: Maryse calling Miz and his dad out for being cheap

Maryse told Miz that he only gets good deals because he’s annoying and that his dad should just take a cab next time. She also gave Miz gruff for ruining the cake, after she and Marjo discovered the coverup through expert detective work (read: they checked the car and found frosting). Maryse knows what’s up. She’s a breadwinner here too. Listen to your wife and pay up from the start next time, Miz.

Hit: Every time George Mizanin ate something

While Miz was busy (rightly) freaking out that they knocked Maryse’s cake over in the car and completely ruined it, George was just hanging out happy as a dog in the Petco treat aisle eating pieces of the cake. It was also revealed, after Miz and George got back to the house, that George had accidentally been eating cat food because he thought it was nuts. Which doesn’t even make sense. George might be giving Marjo a run for her money as best parent on this show.

Miss: TMI Flirting

Reality TV is great. It lets you see moments you otherwise wouldn’t and that’s amusing even when they’re blatantly pre-planned. One moment this week did not qualify. To quote the lovely couple, as Miz was helping a very pregnant Maryse up and into a car:

“What do you want me to do put my hand up your ass?”

“You usually do. That’s how I got pregnant.”

What? No. No! Do not want. Do not need to hear. Ever. Thanks though.

Hit: You can take the boy out of The Challenge ...

Miz got his start on MTV’s The Challenge, and still hosts the Champs vs. Stars spinoff show. It turns out you can take the boy out of The Challenge but you can absolutely not take The Challenge out of the boy. Miz held his own series of “challenges” at a baby shower, which isn’t unique, but he introduced it as in his best host voice. Which was great. Keep that Challenge DNA foreverrrr Miz.

Hit: Baby shower guests

You’d expect a baby shower for two professional wrestlers to have many of their friends, and for those friends to include other wrestling stars. And it did! Including John Morrison doing the “suck it” taunt behind Miz as the dad-to-be won the diaper challenge.

And Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell himself, Dennis Haskins, who is friends with Miz and was once a guest commissioner at a Pro Wrestling Syndicate match in New Jersey at Miz’s behest was also there.

But you know who else was there? Making this one of the best baby showers of this century and possibly ever? Avril Lavigne! And Psych’s James Roday! What is happening!? Only good things on this show. Only good things.

Here’s Avril being super hyped up for the baby shower games.

Here’s Avril figuring out her strategy for the baby bottle chugging game, which she eventually crushed. Of course.

If you’re wondering why Avril Lavigne was even there, it’s a mix of her being friends with Maryse (because ... Canada?) and her ex-boyfriend Ryan Cabrera being a wrestling fan. The two of them were at Miz and Maryse’s Halloween party dressed up as Miz and Maryse. Cabrera was also at the shower and tried to out-Miz Miz. No one out-Miz’s Miz.

James Roday’s appearance was more random but just as delightful. His introductory chyron caught him right as he was making his classic Psych fake psychic face.

Then he was in the background while Miz was celebrating a game win, also looking like he was making a Psych face.

This baby shower was filled with so many people I want to hang out with and putting them in one room with cake and alcohol sounds like exactly the party I’d want to hang out with all of them at. So, I’m also getting an invite to the next bash when you’re celebrating the imminent arrival of another little one, right Miz?
