In case you’ve forgotten (I know I don’t recall much between the years of ‘02-‘03), SlamBall was a basketball-gymnastics-hockey hybrid that aired on Spike for two seasons.
Really, all it had in common with basketball was that there was a hoop, and dunks were more important than jumpshots. Let us take a trip down memory lane (note the horrible music that was popular in ‘02, and the Scoliosis Spine Compressor dunk 12 seconds in!):
Welcoming SlamBall Back Into the Sports Universe
Well get ready, pseudo sports fans, because SlamBall is making a comeback.
The hybrid basketball-gymnastics extreme sport that had a short life on Spike in 2002 and 2003 is being resurrected for a “showcase†season to be taped in June with expectations of selling eight franchises before 2009.
So, if you have a couple million bucks just laying around the house, franchises are on sale now in the “low seven figures.” It was such a failure the first time around, there’s now way it could tank twice, right? Right!?
